Muang Ya 100 Years Market

Although the name of the market sounds like an old market but it just opened this year. "Muang Ya 100 Years market" is a night market, very busy in the evening. The market itself is quite new but some old houses in the market and the area which is very old called "Sawai Rieang", that makes the name of the market. I've tried many foods there, so many choices and quite delicious. The day I took these pictues I've just been there too early so it's still quiet. The market is located on Mukkramontri street, the parking area is behind the market.

Mae Cham Pa Restaurant

I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who like Thai Food. All dishes we ordered were so excellent and the atmosphere was so nice in the evening, we love the table on the second floor in the wooden Thai house. Mae Cham Pa Restaurant is located on small street, around 30m off from Mittraprap Highway, opposite Save One night market.

Nong Prue - Tambon Pho Klang or Pho Klang Sub-District is located in Muang District. It's the area that I've never been to even it is so close to downtown. I was driving out from Chai Narong City Gate and here's the area scene after I keep driving for awhile. It gave me a suburb feel. I ended up driving pass through Surathampitak Military Camp.

Sra Kaew Pond

Sra Kaew which means "crystal pond" is one of four old ponds in Korat downtown. Sra Kaew situated near Wat Sra Kaew Temple, you can see the white wall of the temple on one side of the pond. Regarding wikipedia the other three ponds are Sra Maew, Sra Kwan and Sra Bua.

I like this green place so much, my secret hidden place. ;-) The Park located on the highway 304, just the first U-turn after pass intersection with traffic light to The King Stadium. An official name is Khanchana Phisek Park.

On the 23rd of October every year is Chulalongkorn Day or generally called Piyamaharaj Day held to commemorate the death of King Chulalongkorn the Great (Rama V) who passed away in 1910.

In Korat City, the ceremony held in the morning at Chulalongkorn Statue, situated front of Nakhon Ratchasima Provincial Hall. Nakhon Ratchasima Governer, local government officials, and Korat people were invited to lay a wreath at the foot of the statue.

I like this place so much, very nice relaxing place, sitting under shade of trees, wooden house, wooden furniture and the coffee there is just great. Ama Coffee is on Mittraprap Road, nearby the u-turn under the flyover front of Sima Thani Hotel.

A-Ma is a Chinese word, a lot of Thai-Chinese call their grand mother "A-Ma"

I've read somewhere, the owner, a lovely couple said as the land was given by their A-Ma so they make this coffee place name A-ma Coffee.

Janya Swimming Pool

I love swimming, Janya swimming pool is only 5 min drive from my home so. I love the pool here, it has shady area when I don't want to swim in the sun. Janya swimming pool is very nice and more room to enjoy swimming than the big one at the Mall, especially when I go there on the weekday or in the morning. Janya swimming pool located on Suebsiri road soi 3, near Want Pa Salawan Temple.

As far as I know there's quite a few public libraries in Korat City. The major one is in downtown, nearby Wat Suthatjinda Temple and Klang Plaza. This is another one, a small one located on Suebsiri Road Soi 3, its about behide Wat Pa Salawan Temple.

Today (12 August) is Her Majesty Queen Sirikit's Birthday and also National Mother's Day. In the morning at Thao Suranaree Monument, Korat locals were cerebrating Her Majesty Queen Sirikit's 79th Birthday. People had gathered since early morning. There's a religious ceremony and offering food to monks. All we did to make merit for H.M. The Queen.

Pak Chong Floating Market

It's a long weekend here, we just want to go somewhere for a day trip. We decided to go visiting a brand new floating market in the Northeast! It's about an hour drive from Korat. Here we are! The floating market is in wide area with a little lake in the middle. It's not really a floating market in my opinion but still a lovely place to spend few hours with family. Although it's not a real floating market, not even close but I still enjoyed my time there. Most visitors are family group. There's a small fun park to keep all those kids busy while parents doing some shopping. The floating market is 2 kms off from main highway no.2 in Pak Chong District and Pak Chong is around 80 km. from Korat downtown.

Nam Phut in Pak Chong

Nam Phut (thai word) is natural water spring up from the underground becomes a stream that flows down to irrigate orchards. The water is emerald color really!, crystal clear particularly the area that's not allow to swim. I've been there in the long weekend, too much visitors. I couldn't enjoy much the beautiful sight. The area of Nam Phut in Pak Chong is located near Moo-See Police Station, the place is around 2-3 km from Thanarat Road (at km remark 14-15). It's quite difficult to find the place as there's no road sign show the direction.

This building is belong to Korat PAO (Nakhon Ratchasima Provincial Administrative Organization). It supposed to be Korat OTOP center (see the last pic, taken years ago), I've been waiting for the opening. Now I found it becomes office of Miracle of Life Foundation. So where's the OTOP center? Did I miss something?

What a nice weekend to spend sometimes gardening. I went to a plant shop in the area, took a walk around the plant nursery, brought some plants that appeal to me and then put them in my garden. That's it ! ... my time on gardening ;-) This plant shop is on Suebsiri road, a lot of plants to choose and the owner is really nice and friendly.

When I was in Korat downtown today, among those hundreds of election signs along street, I saw some signs of the "100 percent motorcycle helmet use" campaign. Visakha Bucha Day, the anniversary of the Buddha's Birth, Enlightenment and Death, a religious holidays which falls on the 15th day of the waxing moon in the 6th lunar month. This year it falls on the 17th of May. In Korat, many people take part in the Visakha Bucha Festival at MCC Hall, the Mall Korat, to pay homage to the Buddha relic and "vien tien" walk three times clockwise round the relic chamber, and do some others Buddhist activities. The event will be held here throughout the month of May.

A rest area of beach has been developed for the public around the reservoir. Visitors normally come to this beach to swim, dine, camp and enjoy the scenery. We always enjoy the spicy local Thai food there, view people, great scenery and relaxing on beach chair. This place is well known in Khon Buri district.
