Spend the day with family at Korat Zoo

Korat Zoo is another great place in Korat for family spending the day together. I always have a good time visiting Korat Zoo. This time we got to the zoo in the afternoon, it's much more relaxing than every time that we made it in the morning, less crowded.

Korat Zoo or Nakhon Ratchasima Zoo is one of the major zoo in Thailand and one of the most modern in Asia. It's 20 km from downtown, take Highway No. 304 (Nakhon Ratchasima-Pak Thong Chai) and do the left turn onto Highway No. 2310 for 1 Km, the zoo will be on the left. From my last visit, the entrance fee for adult is 70B and for a car is 50B.

We took a tour by tourist train (trailer), very nice and fun for kids. The ticket price is 20B for one round. The zoo has nice area, landscaped each sections. Everyone was very enjoyable. There's also a bike and golf car for rent but taking the trip by train, you will have a guide tour. The zoo also has a big water park, souvenir shop, food center, coffee place. The animals we saw that day such as African elephants, cheetahs, zebras, giraffes,....

Veterans Day 2010 in Korat

Thai Veterans Day 2010 in Korat City, the ceremony held in the morning on 3 Feb 2010. Second Army Area Commander along with military officers and war veterans attended the ceremony to lay Poppy flower wreaths at Thao Suranaree Monument and War Memorial in Suranaree Military Camp.

Thai Veterans Day

Thai Veterans Day is recognized every year on 3 February which was set following the establishment of The War Veterans Organization of Thailand (WVO) on this day. The WVO was established by The War Veterans Act B.E. 2491 which was revised by the War Veterans Organization Act B.E. 2510 as a juristic entity operated by the Royal Thai Government, for charity purposes.

The organization aims to provide aid and assistance to the veterans and their families. The income of WVO comes from subsidy from the Ministry of Defense and the Government's allocated funds on certain occasions including donations. The organizational supports are in the way of general welfares, occupations, agricultural settlement, medical treatment, privilege and their prestige.

. On the Veterans Day, every year, the WVO organizes activities to commemorate veterans' virtues and losses. Thai people also take part in such commemorative day through the purchasing of artificial red poppy flowers, the international symbol of veterans for their sacrifice to their motherlands, as the donations contributing to the WVO’s fund.

Outlet Village Khao Yai

An hour drive from Korat City or 10-15 min drive from Khao Yai National Park. This place is quite popular for shopper, a wide area showcasing merchandise from many international fashion brands. it can keep all shoppers busy for many hours. I don't think many people come to Khao Yai for shopping but perhaps its just like me that come to the national park and drive pass this huge outlet place many times so why not stop by just for once. It's quite a nice place for a walk even though you won't shopping. There're also food court and many food and drink conners.

Outlet Village Khao Yai located in Pak Chong District, on Mittraprap Highway, nearby the junction with Thanarat road.

Phu Hin Suay Resort

Another nice resort in Pak Chong. This place is around 10 min drive from Khao Yai National Park. The resort is located in small street off from Thanarat Rd at 4 km marker. The area was peaceful, very relaxing atmosphere, nice garden and surrounded with mountain view. The room was nice and clean. Food (Thai) was great. They have several room types and room rate is from around 1,200 B to 1,800 B and 4,000B to 5,000 B for a house.
