The story has it that Phra Kotommaharaj, the ruler of Nakorn Intapad ordered Khun Sinarasakorn to set sail on a journey and take with him500 merchants.
Along the journey, many of these merchants died during severe storm but Khun Sinarasakorn and some of his men survived.
On their way back to Nakorn Intapad, they brought the skin of a dead lion-king and presented it to the king, who turned the lion's skin into a carpet.
